Still sitting on the fence...

Image
Senator Marco Rubio issued the following  sane  statement regarding the Executive Order banning selective immigrants.  As for myself, I am still sitting on the fence on this issue.  Am I required to take a stand one way or the other?  The mainstream media can no longer be trusted to tell the truth, and they would have us believe that the nation has not been this divided since the Civil War.  It is an exaggeration.  I want the nation to be safe and we cannot deny that there are simply one too many radical Islamic terrorists planning to hurt Americans.  I do agree with Trump that national security has been too lax.  But I am also suspicious as to why residents of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were not included in the ban; And also disappointed that children were not exempted from it.  It was made clear that this ban was not against any particular religion.  Muslims from other nations can still come to America.  Immigrants from the...

How we can pay for Trump's border wall?

Image
Of course this wall will be named after President Donald Trump.  There is no question about it.  But there is still the question as to who will pay for its construction.  The Mexican President insists Mexico will not pay for it.  Trump’s latest proposal was a 10% import duty tax on Mexican goods.  But who really pays a duty tax?  That would be us, the importers of those goods.  No doubt about it, WE will end up paying for the wall.  So is there a more equitable way for the U.S. taxpayers to fund the building of the Great Trump Wall?  Here is a tongue-in-cheek idea: Turn it into a major tourist attraction. Walls are big tourist attractions.   Think of The Great Wall of China, Hadrian’s Wall near the English-Scottish border, Jerusalem’s Western Wall, and the remains of the Berlin Wall.   And there are many more; the Incan Sacsayhuaman Wall in Peru, the Trojan Walls in Turkey, the Wall of Babylon in Iraq,  walled cities lik...

Thoughts about Voter Registration Fraud and Trump's Wall

RESOLVING THE QUESTION OF VOTER FRAUD There may be a problem with voter fraud in America but it is difficult to prove.   Is there a significant number of people who vote twice (in two different voting districts) or who cast votes for still-registered voters who have either moved away or died?   We will never know until we establish a national voter registration database and also require voters to present positive ID when they vote.  After the recent Presidential election candidate Jill Stein requested a vote recount in the State of Michigan.  Candidate Hillary Clinton's people joined this endeavor.  But when it was discovered that there was extensive voter fraud in the city of Detroit and that the more accurate count favored candidate Trump, the recount was called off.  So the extent of voter fraud will never be known. When one moves from one voting district to another the new voting district officials do NOT always ask where one was previously regis...
